I actually really did enjoy NFS:U2 despite the crappy physics. While they weren't in any way realistic, they were at least drivable and fun. I'm not a fan of rice at all, but there were actually a couple bodykits that looked okay on some of the cars, but most of them I left stock.

The free roam part is what I loved so much, but that's been completely replaced by TDU, which I'm so glad to see has proper supercars and NO BODYKITS! Lol, and with hardcore mode, the physics are way better than Underground.

I dunno, I guess it depends on context. If someone said they bombed a test, I wouldn't immediately think explosives, but if they said they bombed the classroom, I would..

I don't think Funnycat made the transformation, just the video after it.

My car might actually have the worst fuel gauge ever. I thought I was getting low on fuel, and my onboard trip computer said I had 0 miles until I ran out of fuel, so I drove to the nearest gas station. My car has a 17 gallon tank, and it only took 13.5 gallons to fill it...

Assuming a very conservative 20 miles per gallon, that's over 60 miles left...

The PS3 had a big launch here, but after the launch, nothing. The computer store I go to most often has 3 XBOX 360 Kiosks, one Wii Kiosk, and one PS3 Kiosk. There is always someone playing on each of the Xboxes, and always several people lined up waiting to play the Wii, while the PS3 sits in the corner unused.

A friend of mine has one and I was thoroughly underwhelmed. The graphics are no better than my Xbox 360, and it cost him $760 with one extra controller and one game, I got my Xbox in a package that cost $400 for an Xbox premium, an extra controller, a headset, and 3 months of Xbox live...

That video was hilarious, I was literally crying laughing.

Even as funny as that was, I think it's actually pretty amazing how well that worked. When he told it to delete long strings of words and it actually did it, Perl scripting probably isn't the best use for it either, I would assume that it actually works pretty well for day to day things like writing emails and such.

Quote from tristancliffe :That's kind of what I mean.

Emergency brake is such a daft name for something that isn't primarily for emergencies. It's like calling a steering column a chest-spear because that sometimes happens.

But the world now actually thinks the e SHOULD stand for emergency, to the point where pretend encyclopedias that should never ever be trusted () report it as emergency.

Put it this way - before some cars had electro-mechanical handbrakes, the term e-brake didn't exist! Maybe, coincidentally, the emergencies it was needed for only started happening after that...

Actually, I have to disagree. I've heard it called e-brake long before the electromechanical ones you're talking about existed. IIRC, Viper Racing, which was made in 1998 (great little sim, by the way, I'd highly recommend it) called it an e-brake. I've heard it called e-brake long before that too, that's just the first "documented" reference I can find. I'm pretty sure only the newest generation S class Mercedes and Audi A8 and A6 have it.

For the record, I call it a handbrake if it's lever operated, and if it's foot operated, I call it a parking brake. I think emergency brake sounds stupid.

<edit>The Infiniti M45 has an electronic parking brake too</edit>

But since my racer name is (NASSA) Ryan, it makes sense, I still like having 96 GTS in there somewhere

Quote from CSU1 :I can't see no Doberman? What where you doing to your girlfriends dog anyway

So much for your innocence

My girlfriend has a red female Doberman, just like the one in the picture, she even has the same collar, lol. She doesn't have puppies though :P

Quote from Hyperactive :It is like saying that large portion of people who eat ham like ham.

About a year ago I had a short time when I had no internets connection and so I couldn't really play LFS online. I didn't like hotlappiong either so didn't play or drive racing sims at during that period. The interesting thing was that my speeds in real car got higher and I took sometimes a bit more racy approach on corners and roundabouts than usually. Nothing stupidly dangerous but there was some kind of noticable effect. When I got back into LFS my speeds went back to normal. I guess it is just the feeling of getting closer to the limit that I need sometimes.

That exact same thing happened to me...

Most racing cars have you pull back the shifter to upshift and push forward to downshift. This makes sense to me as you're working with the G-forces instead of against them. That being said, the standard for street cars, and I believe it actually is an ISO standard, is forward for upshift and backward for downshift, and all street cars I've driven with a sequential option are like that, save for BMW and Mazda, which both have theirs going the "correct" way.
(I'm a valet at a fairly nice hotel, so I drive lots and lots of cars.) BTW, the 300C, at least all the ones I've ever seen, are right for upshift and left for downshift...

I actually didn't know you could get on the ring there, I thought you could only get on it on the front straight. Anyway, I think the real moral is don't push too hard on your first corner And don't try your first lap in the wet...

Well, I have TDU for the XBOX 360, and I have to say I love it. The physics aren't the best, but the concept is great, and it's pretty well executed I think, at least on the XBOX. I obviously don't get any framerate drops or have any issues with the uninstallers like the PC version would have, I just pop the disc in and play.

Now, I just reached Champion level and unlocked the hardcore physics, and I have to say it made a WORLD of difference. The cars now behave 1000000 times more realistically. They feel like they have mass, there's body roll, you can actually lock the brakes, the cars understeer but are controllable with the throttle, it's just way better. A large, heavy car like the Chrysler 300C SRT-8 understeers a lot and feels very heavy, because it is. Something like the Noble M400 is absolutely a joy to drive and very very neutral. The cars now feel much more unique with the hardcore mode on.

Also with hardcore mode, you get a display that actually shows lateral and longitudinal grip for each tire, steering angle, the weight on each tire, suspension deflection, and lateral and longitudinal acceleration. Basically showing that there is actually physics behind the game now. I'm playing it on the XBOX using a controller, so there's still some steering help, but that's completely gone when using a wheel. The car is just far more predictable when in hardcore mode. I think it makes the game at least a thousand times better.

Quote from Cue-Ball :If it worked this way it would be nice, but as soon as the track or cars allowed changed to S2 content the S1 guys would suddenly get disconnected. I think it's better in the end to just leave it as-is and push the few S1 guys to get S2..

To be honest though, how often does the track/car combo change during a session? It may be more common than I think, but it hardly ever happens to me. I think if the devs really wanted it, it could be implemented more gracefully than an autokick too. Something like forced spectate for people who have the S2 content but haven't unlocked it, or a little message for people who don't physically have the content that says, "The server has changed to an S2 combination, please buy S2 at www.liveforspeed.net"

Just a thought.

I've set my DFP for use as rudder pedals before, in fact that's the only way I fly anymore. If you just check the little box that says "Use combined pedals" in the Game Controllers menu, everything runs just great.

I have too, but I've never seen a proper explanation. I'd really like to know the story behind these..
